Acrylic on cradled wood
11"x14"
Amy is a Madison, Wisconsin-based painter whose work explores the liminal space of the "chance encounter." Utilizing acrylic on wood, she brings to life creatures of her own making, beautifully blending surrealist tradition with a contemporary, precision-based hand. She lives and works alongside her husband, Roger.
Artist Statement:
"I absolutely loved Pee-wee's Playhouse. Paul Reubens was a true surrealist who gave everyone permission to freely explore their own imaginations.
For this exhibition, I decided to create a painting that reflects how we remember the things we love. Memories rarely come back completely linear—they often arrive in snatches, embellished over time by our own thoughts and sensory associations. Thank you, Paul Reubens!"
