Amy is a contemporary, self-taught American artist whose practice spans painting and ceramics. Deeply influenced by her artist grandmother and a lifelong love of cartoons, her style blends the playful energy of pop culture with the raw beauty of the natural world. Amy’s work utilizes vibrant colors, exaggerated features, and therapeutic humor to explore the complexities and dualities of life, turning personal reflection into bold, emotionally creative pieces.
"I grew up watching Pee-wee’s Playhouse, and it was one of my favorite shows. I chose Chairry for my submission because, to me, she represents a warm hug from my childhood. In this piece, she is both nostalgic and beautiful, yet she sits completely alone in the playhouse. This is Chairry without Paul. She rests in the bittersweetness of their time together and the heavy emptiness left in his absence—forever saving a cushion for Pee-wee."
