CocoLoco is a queer, low-brow contemporary artist who creates loud, colorful worlds where pop culture, punk spirit, and cartoon logic collide. Fueled by a lifelong obsession with toys, comic books, street culture, and the wonderfully weird, her work channels the manic energy of Saturday morning cartoons through a distinctly subversive lens.
Drawing deep inspiration from Pee-wee Herman, Sesame Street, Maurice Sendak, and Edward Gorey, CocoLoco masterfully mixes nostalgia with irreverence, humor with darkness, and chaos with heart. Bursting with kinetic color, oddball characters, and visual punchlines, her art serves as a vibrant celebration of the outsiders, the dreamers, and anyone who refuses to color inside the lines.
Artist Statement:
"Pee-wee Herman is a massive part of how and why I am the artist I am today. To me, Pee-wee perfectly exemplified exactly what a curious, creative misfit can do and become. The world is a much brighter, better place because of visionary artists like Paul Reubens."
