$350.00

Acrylic and Posca on a cereal box and canvas
12” x 16”

Artist Statement:

"In 1985, I crowded into a movie theater with a gang of Seattle punk rockers, delinquents, and beautiful weirdos to watch Pee-wee's Big Adventure. As a teenage emerging artist, it completely cracked me open—here was definitive proof that the weird, the playful, and the boldly strange had a place in the world. It meant my work, and I, had a place in the world, too.

Last year, I heard Paul Reubens say that all he ever wanted was to bring glee to people. Since I started painting again in 2022, that has become my entire artistic mission in four simple words. My mixed-media work deconstructs '70s and '80s pop culture—toys, television, cartoons, and junk food—and reassembles it into something entirely new using acrylic, gouache, ink, pencil, and watercolor on canvas, paper, and wood. Join me on the Island of Misfit Toys, reimagined. Come for the nostalgia. Stay for the glee."
