Dan Nguyen is a figurative realist painter born and raised in Vietnam. In 2016, Dan earned her BFA in Fashion Merchandising from The Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. After graduating from Fashion school, she wanted to explore another passion: painting. In 2020, Dan earned her MFA in Painting from Laguna College of Art and Design. She currently creates artwork at her studio in Ventura County, CA. When viewing Dan's art, the audience recognizes her for the choices of color. She often uses vibrant, pastel, and neutral pigments to express the emotions and feelings of her subjects. Moreover, brushwork is her favorite tool to communicate how she feels and what she wants to say through her paintings. She tends to refine the focal point by employing tighter rendering, but for the background, she uses big painterly strokes to give energy to the piece and to set her feelings free. Her goal while creating art is to share her point of view on human connections and depict the beauty of individuality. Her figures are unapologetically bold, exuding a sense of comfort in their own skin. Each stroke on her canvas tells a story within, celebrating life's vast diversity and inspiring self-expression.
