Dan Nguyen is a Vietnamese-born figurative painter based in Ventura County, California. She holds a BFA from the Academy of Art University and an MFA from Laguna College of Art + Design (LCAD), where she completed rigorous classical training in painting and contemporary figurative realism.
Renowned for her dynamic color theory and narrative depth, Nguyen captures the beauty of individuality, intimacy, and human connection. Her subjects are unapologetically present and at ease in their own skin, brought to life through expressive, intentional brushwork that celebrates personal truth and diversity.
Her paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally, earning recognition as a finalist in both the 14th and 17th International ARC Salon Competitions and selection for the 2024 Almenara Art Prize. Her work has also been highlighted in publications including the Ventura County Star.
Alongside her active studio practice, Nguyen is a dedicated educator and mentor. She is the co-founder of The Art Studio Eleven, guiding emerging Southern California artists, and serves as an instructor at the Kline Academy of Fine Art in Los Angeles and an MFA mentor at LCAD.
