Chris Densmore is an independent lowbrow artist whose distinct, edgy style captures a beautifully chaotic world for fans of the strange and unconventional. Bypassing formal art school to forge his own path as an outsider artist, Densmore draws deep inspiration from classic cartoons, horror cinema, mid-century camp, and rat rod culture.
Artist Statement:
"As a Gen Xer, my obsession with Pee-wee Herman started with his early HBO special and became a lifelong inspiration. Paul Reubens' creative legacy has profoundly shaped my work—I even co-headlined an exhibition where half my pieces were Pee-wee related, which actually led to a lasting friendship with actor Mark Holton (Francis) after he saw my painting of his character. From attending the 40th-anniversary tribute at Warner Bros. to celebrating his brilliant absurdity today, this tribute is a heartfelt nod to the endless joy Pee-wee gave us."
