Artist Statement:
"I am a late convert to Pee-wee. For years, people told me I would absolutely love him, and when I finally watched Pee-wee’s Big Adventure last year, I was immediately hooked. As someone who loves color, clowns, and embracing my own childlike wonder, I resonate deeply with Pee-wee Herman and get so much joy from his world.
In preparation for this exhibition, I started watching Pee-wee’s Playhouse and found myself deeply inspired by the show's incredible set decoration—specifically the idea of taking an existing everyday object and making it whimsical. For this piece, I took a Big Mouth Billy Bass and thought: what could be more fun than making him look just like Pee-wee?"
