Artist Statement:

"This piece was inspired by Pee-wee's Big Adventure and his legendary journey to the Alamo. I first saw the film as a child and it completely blew me away—I absolutely loved the classic bar scene and his iconic dance. When sitting down to work on this painting, I actually started with his big white platform shoes and let the rest of the piece grow from there.

Years ago, I had the chance to see Pee-wee on Broadway, and it was truly the most star-struck I have ever been. I smiled through the entire performance. Afterward, so many dedicated fans waited outside in the freezing cold just to catch a glimpse of him. He eventually came out wearing giant earmuffs, talking through a megaphone, and seemed genuinely touched and humbled by the crowd. He taught me to always embrace my creativity and, above all, to just be myself."
